Korpikoski’s OT goal caps off perfect weekend for Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers came into this weekend without a win, but that all changed in the last two days.

After a three-point night from rookie sensation Connor McDavid against Calgary on Saturday and a bit of puck luck against Vancouver on Sunday, the Oilers now find themselves with back-to-back victories.

It was McDavid, again, who got the party started against the Canucks as he showed off his speed and skill on Nail Yakupov’s first period goal.

Vancouver’s Matt Bartkowski tied the game with a long wrister that got by goalie Anders Nilsson, and that would be the last goal scored in regulation.

In overtime, Edmonton got the winning goal from an unlikely source as Lauri Korpikoski took advantage of an odd man rush to beat Ryan Miller.

After years of futility, have the Oilers finally turned the corner?

We’ll get a better idea after their upcoming three-game home stand against Detroit, Washington and Los Angeles.
