Doc Emrick details how U.S. men's hockey overcame all odds and pulled off a six-goal comeback in the gold medal game for a 9-4 win vs. Czechoslovakia for USA hockey's first Olympic gold medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics.

Before the “Miracle on Ice,” another group of unheralded American hockey players won gold at the Winter Olympics.

During the 1960 Games, the U.S. men’s team brought the country its first Olympic gold medal in hockey with a perfect 7-0-0 record, besting Canada and the Soviet Union along the way.

NBC Sports’ Doc Emrick caught up with John Mayasich, Bill Clearly, Weldy Olson, Dick Meredith, and Jack McCartan, who was voted Best Goaltender of the tournament, to discuss their historic feat.

NBC Sports presents the NHL Outdoor Games at Lake Tahoe this weekend on NBC, beginning with Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche facing Mark Stone and the Vegas Golden Knights Saturday at 3 p.m. ET, and Kevin Hayes and the Philadelphia Flyers against David Pastrnak and the Boston Bruins in a clash between East Division leaders Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
