Columbus center Brandon Dubinsky has undergone successful wrist surgery, which is expected to keep him out for three months, the club announced Tuesday.

That’s a lengthy timeline, but the Blue Jackets do expect the 31-year-old Dubinsky to be ready for when training camp begins in September, said general manager Jarmo Kekalainen in a statement.

“Brandon had been experiencing discomfort in his wrist since the season ended,” Kekalainen said. “After an examination last week it was determined that surgery was the best course of action at this time.”

Dubinsky scored 12 goals and 41 points in 80 games this season, before appearing in all five playoff games of the opening round versus the Pittsburgh Penguins. It was a down year offensively, and his lowest goal total in four seasons.

Still, Dubinsky played an integral role in helping the Blue Jackets finished the season with 50 wins and 108 points, good enough for third in an ultra competitive Metropolitan Division.

Dubinsky still has four years remaining on his current six-year deal, with an annual cap hit of $5.85 million.
