The Ottawa Senators have wanted to host an outdoor game for several years now, and it appears they are finally going to get that opportunity as part of their 25th anniversary celebration.

According to a report from the Ottawa Citizen, the NHL is expected to announce on Friday that the Senators will host the Montreal Canadiens in an outdoor game on Dec. 17, 2017. The game will be played at TD Place, home of the Canadian Football League’s Ottawa Redblacks.

TD Place will also be hosting the CFL’s Grey Cup just a few weeks before the outdoor NHL game, and will have additional seating set up that will remain in place for the outdoor game. According to the report the Senators had originally wanted to hold the game on Parliament Hill but could not get permission from the government.

This will be the fourth outdoor game for the Canadiens (all played on the road) after playing in the Heritage Classic in 2003 (at Edmonton) and 2011 (at Calgary) and the Winter Classic in 2016 (at Boston).

The Senators played in the 2014 Heritage Classic in Vancouver.
