The Washington Capitals might be without their big trade deadline acquisition on Sunday night when they visit the Anaheim Ducks.

The NHL’s department of player safety announced on Sunday morning that Shattenkirk will have a discipline hearing this afternoon following a charging incident that took place during the Capitals’ 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.

With less than five minutes to play in the third period Shattenkirk was giving a two-minute minor for charging Kings defenseman Kevin Gravel.

This is a look at the play.

That was Shattenkirk’s third penalty of the night. He doesn’t have any sort of disciplinary history with the NHL, but the fact he has a hearing would seem to indicate that he is probably going to miss at least tonight’s game against the Ducks.

Since being acquired by the Capitals at the NHL trade deadline Shattenkirk has four assists in six games with the Capitals.
