With Jared Spurgeon’s overtime goal, the Minnesota Wild edged the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday. By doing so, they’ve now won 11 games in a row.

The hot streak goes deeper than that, too. They’re also 13-1-3 in their last 17 games, putting them at 22-8-4 on the season.

Here’s that overtime-winner by Spurgeon:

As usual, Devan Dubnyk was brilliant.

They also continue to gain on the Chicago Blackhawks for the Central Division lead, especially since the Blackhawks lost to the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 tonight. Here’s how the two teams look:

Blackhawks: 22-10-5 with 49 points in 37 games played
Wild: 22-8-4 with 48 points in 34 games

Much like the also-red-hot Columbus Blue Jackets not that long ago, the Wild might not be on top of their division, but their games in hand advantage indicates that they could very well be on the verge of taking first place.

Speaking of the Blue Jackets, New Year’s Eve is looming as a fascinating night, as the two teams face off in Columbus on Saturday. Each squad needs to win one more game and it would be quite the fascinating clash between two streaking squads where something would have to give.
