What a brutal night for goaltenders in Tampa Bay.

After Lightning goalie Ben Bishop had to leave the game in the first period after injuring his leg while trying to make a save, Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard had to exit in the second period following a collision in front of his net.

It all started when Lightning forward Erik Condra bumped into Howard, which was immediately followed by Howard’s teammate, Nick Jensen, awkwardly falling on top of him (Jensen is also the player that shot the puck that resulted in Bishop’s injury … so maybe stay away from Nick Jensen if you’re a goalie right now).

He had to be helped off the ice by his teammates and was replaced by Petr Mrazek.

Here is a look at the play.

Howard already missed six games this season due to injury.

When he has been healthy he has been having one of his best seasons in more than three years, owning a .934 save percentage heading into Tuesday.

He stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced against the Lightning before exiting the game.
