PHT Morning Skate: NHL award winners at the quarter mark of the season

--The Score handed out their NHL awards at the quarter mark of the season. Let’s just say Carey Price’s name came up a couple of times. (The Score)

--It sounds like some of the Vancouver Canucks are big fans of the show “Friends”. Bo Horvat and Troy Stecher answer some pretty specific trivia questions about the show. Stecher even sings “Smelly Cat” for the audience. (Top)

--The New York Post’s Larry Brooks isn’t a fan of the way next summer’s expansion draft will unfold. Instead of doing it behind closed doors and unveiling the picks 24 hours later, Brooks says the picks should be announced in real time. (New York Post)

--It’s only been three games, but the Anaheim Ducks have gotten some serious production from the line of Antoine Vermette, Nick Ritchie and Ondrej Kase. “When you have the scratch board in the summer months, we thought we would be able to provide nine forwards that could provide us some form of offense and that’s holding true right now. To say that those are the nine that we had on the board, I would say no,” admitted Randy Carlyle.

--The WHL’s Calgary Hitmen held their annual “Teddy Bear Toss” night. Fans threw over 20,000 stuffed animals onto the ice. It’s really something to see.

--As part of their 50th anniversary celebration, the Los Angeles Kings unveiled a historic monument outside of Staples Center prior to Saturday night’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Not bad, not bad at all:
