After he was unable to earn a roster spot with the Toronto Maple Leafs on a tryout contract in training camp, it appears as if Brandon Prust is moving on to the next chapter of his professional hockey career.

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, Prust is leaving on Sunday for an opportunity in Germany. It is not yet known which team he will be signing with, but the move had been speculated on over the past 24 hours if the Maple Leafs did not sign him to a deal.

The 32-year-old Prust has played nine seasons in the NHL, scoring 40 goals and adding 75 over 486 games with the Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes, and Vancouver Canucks.

At his best Prust was able to carve out a career for himself in a bottom-six forward role. He played with a lot of the toughness and nastiness his employers wanted in that spot, but he could also chip in a little bit of offense from time to time as well. His best hockey probably came as a member of the New York Rangers during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons when he had 18 goals and 28 assists over his two full seasons with the team.

He spent the 2015-16 season as a member of the Canucks, appearing in 35 games for the team. He scored one goal and recorded five assists.
