The Chicago Blackhawks will once again be without center Jonathan Toews on Saturday night when the team visits the Los Angeles Kings.

Toews was injured earlier this week in a game against the San Jose Sharks and did not play on Friday against Anaheim, a 3-2 Blackhawks win, due to what the team is calling an “upper body injury.”

His scoring has dropped quite a bit this season with only 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 21 games. That puts him on a pace for around just 46 points this season. That would be by far the lowest point total of his career. But even though his point production is down he remains an outstanding defensive player and two-way forward that can impact the game in a lot of ways.

The Blackhawks attempted to fill his spot on Friday by sticking Vince Hinostraza on a line between Ryan Hartman and Marian Hossa. That trio was on the ice for one Anaheim’s goals.

Along with Toews, the Blackhawks will also be without forward Jordin Tootoo on Saturday night due to a lower body injury.
