In 727 regular season games as a member of the St. Louis Blues, David Backes scored 206 goals for the team before leaving as a free agent to join the Boston Bruins this past summer.
On Tuesday, he scored his first goal in his first game against his former team.
Less than eight minutes into the first period, Backes scored his fourth goal of the season when he went to the front of the net and pounced on a Torey Krug rebound, beating Blues goalie Jake Allen, to give the Bruins an early 1-0 lead. You can see the entire play in the video above.
The other noteworthy aspect of this goal is that it was the 20,000th goal in the history of the Bruins franchise, making them just the second team in NHL history to reach that mark. The other team, of course, is the Montreal Canadiens.
