The San Jose Sharks have provided another update on the status of injured forward Tomas Hertl.

After announcing earlier on Monday that Hertl is going on the injured reserve list, Sharks general manager Doug Wilson added later in the evening that Hertl has been diagnosed with a right knee sprain and will undergo a “minor procedure” on Tuesday.

It was reported this weekend that Hertl was expected to be out “weeks” and tonight’s news further supports that. However, the Sharks said that a timetable for his return has not been set.

With Hertl out, the Sharks have called up forward Danny O’Regan from the American Hockey League.
