The Jets put an end overtime and hand the Avalanche the win with an own-net goal.

The Colorado Avalanche will take it.

The Avalanche scored an overtime victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, thanks to one of the most unusual winning goals you’ll see this season. Rene Bourque was credited with the goal.

It’s one Nikolaj Ehlers certainly won’t forget.

After winning possession of the puck along the boards in his own end, Ehlers went to make a pass back to a teammate. That’s where it all went wrong. The puck missed everyone in a Jets jersey and went under the pads of his stunned goalie Michael Hutchinson.

Game over. The Avalanche, a struggling hockey team coming into this game, skated away with a 3-2 overtime win.

It wasn’t all good news for the Avalanche.

Matt Duchene didn’t take a shift in the third period, and was reportedly being evaluated for an apparent injury. Head coach Jared Bednar didn’t have an update on Duchene following the game.
