Winnipeg Jets forward Joel Armia will reportedly be out for 4-6 weeks, according to Sami Hoffren.

Many suspected that Armia suffered an ankle injury in Thursday’s game against the Capitals, but Hoffren suggests that he hurt his MCL. No surgery is required.

Although he might not be a household name, the 23-year-old forward has been one of the better two-way players on the team since the start of the season.

“The (Adam) Lowry-Armia combination has generated more even strength five-on-five chances and net chances than anyone else and that includes Mark (Scheifele) and Blake (Wheeler),” said head coach Paul Maurice, per the Winnipeg Sun. “That’s how important those two guys were. So much of that was from Joel’s stick. He’s just so responsible defensively but with a level of creativity. I’m more disappointed for him and this time but he’s going to heal and he’s going to come back and if he keeps playing the way he’s playing, he’s going to play for the Winnipeg Jets for a long time.”

He has a goal and four points in 10 games in 2016-17.

The Jets have been hit hard by injuries so far this season. They also lost Mathieu Perreault to an upper-body injury on Thursday and were already without Shawn Matthias, Bryan Little, Drew Stafford, Tyler Myers and Mark Stuart.
