On Saturday, the entire hockey world found out that Islanders GM Garth Snow sent a league-wide e-mail letting teams know that Jaroslav Halak could be had.
Halak’s agent, Allan Walsh, got the ball rolling with a series of tweets about how carrying three goalies isn’t the right approach (he’s not wrong).
But according to Newsday’s Arthur Staple, no team has made an offer for the Isles goalie before or after Snow’s e-mail was sent.
The 31-year-old has proven to be an effective player, but he’s suffered his share of injuries over the last couple of years.
The fact that he has another year remaining on his contract at $4.5 million probably doesn’t help his odds of being traded.
“There’s enough to worry about getting ready to play games,” John Tavares said of this situation potentially becoming a distraction, per Newsday. “The [goaltender] situation is what it is. Everyone has to be prepared to play and do what they can to be ready. We need everybody in this room if we’re going to accomplish what we want to this season.”
It’ll be interesting to see if a team with goalie trouble (Arizona, Los Angeles, Buffalo or others) makes a pitch for him in the near future.
Keep in mind that Thomas Greiss will be a UFA at the end of the season, while Jean-Francois Berube will be an RFA.
A few thoughts on the #Isles weekend: 1) Don't see much of a trade market for Halak given his salary/term and team hasn't gotten any offers.

Would think GS offering Halak around league was more of a shot back at Allan Walsh for going public with his clients' unhappiness.
