Detroit Red Wings forward Steve Ott got away with one early in the first period of Saturday’s game against the Boston Bruins when he seemed to spear Zdeno Chara in a rather unpleasant spot.

Both players ended up getting matching unsportsmanlike conduct penalties as a result of the aftermath, but there was no penalty on Ott for the initial spear that started it all.

The Bruins were sure to make sure everybody in the hockey world saw it by Tweeting out a video of the play.

Here is the entire sequence.

At this point there is no official word from the NHL if there will be any additional discipline for Ott. It is worth pointing out that since the NHL’s department of player safety was put into place it has yet to suspend a player for spearing. It has issued six fines for it.

The Bruins went on to win the game, 1-0, thanks to a 24-save shutout from Tuukka Rask in his return to the lineup to snap the Red Wings’ six-game winning streak.
