It did end up costing him a little bit of money.
The NHL’s department of player safety announced on Sunday afternoon that Ott has been fined $2,222.22 for spearing Chara.
That amount is the maximum fine allowed under the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement.
The incident occurred on the opening shift of Saturday’s game and resulted in both players shoving one another and receiving matching unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
This is the seventh fine for spearing in the history of the NHL Department of Player Safety.
