When inconsistent play hasn’t dogged Mike Smith, injuries often have.
The Arizona Coyotes didn’t just lose 7-4 to the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday; they also lost Smith to a lower-body injury.
Head coach Dave Tippett hopes to know more about the big goalie’s condition on Wednesday, as he told the Arizona Republic’s Sarah McLellan.
“Could be a short-term thing. I don’t know,” Tippett said. “He’s played very well, that’s for sure.”
You can see video of the injury above this post’s headline.
Despite seeing just 11:38 of on-ice action, Louis Domingue allowed the same number of goals (three on 11 shots) as Smith gave up (three on 30) all night.
Domingue appeared in 39 games in 2015-16, so at least he’s seen some NHL action if Smith misses some time.
