What a Friday night of hockey it should be in Nashville.
Not only are the Nashville Predators opening the 2016-17 season against one of their biggest Central Division rivals, the Chicago Blackhawks, but they are also kicking off the P.K. Subban era as the defenseman plays in his first regular season game with the team after being acquired in a summer blockbuster trade.
The addition of Subban to a team that already had one of the top defenses in the league and a strong core of young forwards, led by Filip Forsberg and Ryan Johansen, has made them one of the preseason favorites in the Western Conference. Expectations are probably higher than they have ever been in Nashville. They get their first chance to show what they are capable of on Friday night against a Blackhawks team that has been the dominant team in the NHL over the past six years.
It should be great.
