Update: The Los Angeles Kings signed Devin Setoguchi to a two-way contract, according to Fox Sports’ Jon Rosen. Financial details haven’t been revealed yet.

The Los Angeles Times’ Lisa Dillman reports that it’s for “minimum amounts,” making it a prove-it deal.

In other Kings news, 2014 first-rounder Adrian Kempe ranked among the players who were demoted.

It sounds like Devin Setoguchi’s NHL comeback is almost complete.

The Los Angeles Kings, who invited Setoguchi to attend their training camp on a PTO, are reportedly looking to sign the forward to a contract, according to Rosen.

The former first-round pick impressed enough throughout camp that the Kings decided to play him on a line with Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown in last week’s preseason finale. He was skating with those same players during Monday’s practice too.

“I thought I gave myself a chance,” said Setoguchi, per the Los Angeles Times. “By no means is it over. It’s an everyday thing for me. I’ve got to make sure that I keep improving and getting better and trying to prove my worth here in L.A.”

The 29-year-old spent last season with HC Davos of the Swiss League, where he scored 11 goals and 24 points in 30 games.

This is a remarkable comeback considering all the personal issues he’s faced over the last few years.

Setoguchi admitted to having a drinking problem, which got worse after the Flames demoted him to the minors in 2014.

It’s nice to see that he’s cleaned up his life and is back on the right track.
