So, about that Boston defense we were talking about earlier.
Yeah. It’s not great, and Montreal’s Daneiel Carr had his way with it on Tuesday night in the third period of their exhibition game, which the Canadiens won by a score of 4-3.
With the game tied at three, Carr received a pass right in the middle of the slot and in one motion made a nifty move to dangle between Bruins defenders Zdeno Chara and Adam McQuaid, and then beat Tuukka Rask to score what go on to be the game-winning tally.

That play all started with him intercepting a Bruins breakout pass out of the zone.
Carr is trying to secure a spot on the Canadiens’ roster and plays like that are only going to help. Especially with that coming against a defenseman like Chara and a goalie like Rask. It’s not like he was going up against a couple of fringe NHL players that are also on a roster bubble at the end of training camp. Preseason game or not, that is one of the best goalies in the league and one of the best defenseman of his era out there, and he made that look almost effortless.
The 24-year-old Carr spent 23 games with the Canadiens in 2015-16, scoring six goals to go with three assists. He had 10 goals and 11 assists in 24 games with the St. John’s IceCaps of the AHL.
