It didn’t take Team North America very long to get their first goal of the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Each of the last two first overall picks had a hand in Jack Eichel’s first goal of the tournament, as Connor McDavid sent a neutral zone pass to Auston Matthews, who made a great play to get around one Finnish player before taking the puck to the net.
Eichel was parked in front of the net and put the rebound by Predators goalie Pekka Rinne.
Here’s what it looked like:

Team North America nearly made it 2-0 just moments later, but the puck was cleared off the goal line.
