After Sweden and Russia couldn’t find the back of the net in the first half of the game, the Swedes erupted for two goals in just over two minutes.

Gabriel Landeskog opened the scoring at the 10:41 mark of the second period with Vadim Shipachev in the box.

No surprise, as Erik Karlsson dishes out a perfect pass to Landeskog on the play.

See for yourself:

Just 2:11 later, it was Victor Hedman who doubled Sweden’s lead:

Also, surprising to see how little ice time Ovechkin’s received through 40 minutes.

Ovechkin did take an embellishment penalty in the second period, but still…that seems low.

Through two periods, the Swedes still lead 2-0.
