The Buffalo Sabres re-signed RFA forward Marcus Foligno to a one-year contract extension on Thursday.
The 24-year-old was drafted by the Sabres in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He’s coming off his best season as an NHLer with 10 goals and 23 points in 75 games last year.
The Sabres still haven’t released the financial details of the agreement, but keep in mind that Foligno is coming off a two-year, $3.75 million deal. He made $2.25 million last season.
Initial word is Foligno simply accepted his qualifying offer, an equal to last season's salary of $2,250,000. #Sabres

The Sabres now have two restricted free agents to lock up in Rasmus Ristolainen and Zemgus Girgensons. Ristolainen and the team are working toward a long-term deal worth over $6 million per year, according to the Buffalo News. The 21-year-old had nine goals and 41 points while averaging 25:16 of ice time per game in 2015-16.
As for Girgensons, he’s coming off his three-year, entry-level deal that saw him make about $4.2 million. The 22-year-old had seven goals and 18 points in 71 games.
Before the Foligno contract, Buffalo had just over $9 million in cap space.
