For the second consecutive year, Team Canada will take home the gold medal at the World Hockey Championship.
After dropping a 4-0 decision to Finland earlier in the tournament, Canada exacted revenge on the Finns on Sunday.
Here’s McDavid’s beauty:
McDavid became the youngest player to win gold at the World Junior Championship, the U18 World Championship and the World Hockey Championship.
Matt Duchene added an empty-netter with under one second remaining to make it 2-0 for Canada.
Team Canada hadn’t won back-to-back golds at this tournament since they did it in 2003 and 2004. Matt Duchene Taylor Hall and Ryan O'Reilly are the only players on this year’s team that also won gold last year.
The win also means that Canada’s captain, Corey Perry, becomes the newest member of the triple gold club (World Championship, Stanley Cup, Olympics).
Finland’s Patrik Laine was named the tournament’s MVP. He finished with seven goals and 12 points in 10 tournament games.
