The Penguins nearly completed a furious rally in the third period but the Lightning captured a 4-3 win in Game 4 to tie the Eastern Conference Final.

The Tampa Bay Lightning wanted to avoid heading to Pittsburgh down 3-1 in their best-of-seven series against the Penguins and they were able to do that.

The Lightning came out with a lot of energy and opened the scoring just 27 seconds into the game when forward Ryan Callahan tipped a Victor Hedman shot past Matt Murray.

Tampa Bay continued to push the Penguins in the opening frame. They took a 2-0 lead when Nikita Kucherov used this sweet pass to feed Andrej Sustr.

The Bolts got two more goals from Jonathan Drouin and Tyler Johnson in the second period to jump out to a 4-0 lead.

With his team down big going into the third, Pens coach Mike Sullivan decided to shake things up by pulling Matt Murray and replacing him with Marc-Andre Fleury.

The move seemed to give the Penguins an immediate boost.

Phil Kessel (who else) got Pittsburgh on the board just 1:18 into the frame.

Kessel has picked up a goal in three straight games and he’s registered a point in each game of the Eastern Conference Final.

Evgeni Malkin cut the lead to 4-2 at the 11:13 mark of the period and Chris Kunitz made things really interesting by making it 4-3 less than two minutes later.

Despite their best effort to blow a four-goal lead, the Lightning managed to hold on for the 4-3 victory.

Game 5 goes Sunday night in Pittsburgh.
