The Drake Caggiula sweepstakes are over and the Edmonton Oilers came away the winners. On Saturday, the Oilers confirmed that they signed the University of North Dakota product to a two-year, entry-level deal.

The 21-year-old had a solid year at North Dakota. He finished second on the team in goals (25) and points (61) and was named the Frozen Four’s MOP, as he scored two goals in the championship game.

Many experts originally expected Caggiula to sign with Vancouver because teammates Brock Boeser and Troy Stecher are both property of the Canucks, but the Flyers, Senators, Blackhawks and Sabres were also reportedly in the mix for his services. In the end, he decided that Edmonton was the right fit for him.
