Some good news on the injury front for the New York Rangers. Head coach Alain Vigneault announced that Henrik Lundqvist will get the start in Saturday afternoon’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
There was some doubt around Lundqvist’s status after he took a stick to the eye from teammate Marc Staal in Game 1 (top).
With Ryan McDonagh already out of the lineup, the Rangers needed all the help they can get after losing Game 1 of the series.

New York will also be without Dan Girardi in this one.
Lundqvist’s injury has ignited a debate across the NHL about changing the cages on the front of goalie masks going forward. Closing the space between openings would eliminate the possibility of sticks poking goalies in the eye, but it may obstruct a goalie’s view of the puck.
Pittsburgh’s goaltending situation going into Game 2 is still unclear. Coach Mike Sullivan announced that Marc-Andre Fleury (concussion) will be a game-time decision. The same thing goes for injured forward Evgeni Malkin, who’s been out since Mar. 13 with an upper body injury.
