The St. Louis Blues have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension for defenseman Joel Edmundson, whose new deal comes with a reported cap hit of $1.05 million.

The 22-year-old rookie has played 66 games for the Blues this season, scoring once with eight assists while logging an average of 14:54 in ice time.

St. Louis now has all eight of its defensemen signed through at least next season.

But that doesn’t mean GM Doug Armstrong can sit back and relax. Kevin Shattenkirk is a pending unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2017, and it remains to be seen if the Blues will be able to re-sign him.
