The Tampa Bay Lightning got some terrible news when they found that Steven Stamkos will miss 1-3 months with a blood clot in his arm. Many expected Jonathan Drouin to be recalled in his place, but that won’t be the case.
Drouin missed AHL Syracuse’s game on Sunday because of a lower-body injury. The 21-year-old is considered day-to-day.
It’s unfortunate timing for the second-year player. He was finally starting to find his game, as he’d scored nine goals in his last nine contests.
Drouin’s had a pretty tough year. He left the Lightning’s AHL affiliate to return home because he was fed up of waiting for the big club to give him another shot. Now, he’s on the sidelines when a potential roster spot opens up.
The Bolts aren’t going to call anyone up from the minors for now because they’re carrying an extra forward already, per The Tampa Bay Times.
