The Chicago Blackhawks held 2-1 and 3-2 leads in Friday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets, but they still needed overtime to get the job done.
With the ‘Hawks trailing 4-3 in the third period, Artemi Panarin collected his third point of the night by scoring the game-tying goal.
In overtime, Panarin carried the puck into the Jets zone and fed it to Brent Seabrook, who scored the game-winner on the play.
Not a bad night for Panarin, as he finished the game with two goals and a pair of assists in the vicotry.
It wasn’t all good news for the Chicago. Forward Andrew Shaw was forced to leave the game with an upper-body injury, but it doesn’t appear to be serious.

The ‘Hawks played this game without Corey Crawford (injured), Marian Hossa (ill), Duncan Keith (suspended) while Jonathan Toews and Trevor van Riemsdyk both left the game with injuries as well. Luckily for the ‘Hawks, Toews and TVR returned.
“I haven’t seen that in a long time, losing three players in one period and get a couple back,” Joel Quenneville said, per the Chicago Tribune. “It was a crazy game all game long.”
Chicago’s now four points behind St. Louis for second in the Central and six points behind Dallas for top spot in the division. All three teams have played 78 games. More importantly, the ‘Hawks jump six points ahead of the Nashville Predators, who are right behind them.
