Duncan Keith called Charlie Coyle to apologize for stick-swing

On Friday night, ‘Hawks defenseman Duncan Keith received a six-game suspension for taking a swing a Wild forward Charlie Coyle earlier this week. The suspension will force Keith to miss the remaining games of the regular season plus one game in the playoffs.

After the ‘Hawks practiced on Saturday, Keith admitted that he picked up the phone and called Coyle to apologize. Coyle didn’t answer at first, but he was nice enough to return Keith’s call.

“It’s a fast game and it was obviously a reaction and one that I need to be disciplined,” said Keith, via Tracey Myers’ Twitter account.

Keith has accepted his punishment and he won’t be appealing the Department of Player Safety’s decision.
