Tuesday was a rough night for the Florida Panthers.

Granted, it probably wasn’t the toughest in the NHL - that likely goes to the collapsing Colorado Avalanche - but it was a rough evening nonetheless.

The Panthers dropped a 5-2 upset to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and to add injury to insults, they must hold their breath about the health of rising forward Vincent Trocheck.

Trocheck will undergo an MRI on a potentially fractured foot after blocking a shot in that loss, according to the Miami Herald.

“There’s something there and we’ll know more [Wednesday],’’ coach Gerard Gallant said. “He will do an MRI and we’ll see.’’

With 25 goals on the season and close to a point-per-game during the past two months, Trocheck’s quietly become a crucial player for the Panthers.

Now we’ll have to see if he’ll be healthy enough to gain more mainstream attention by playing in the playoffs.
