It’s a busy night in the NHL on Monday and NBCSN has you covered with a doubleheader. It gets underway in Detroit at 7:30 pm ET, as the Red Wings host the Sabres. To watch the game online, click here.

Detroit has to have this game. They’re coming off an embarrassing 7-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday afternoon.

“It was embarrassing, and we have to do a lot better than that,” Kronwall said after the loss, per the Detroit News. “We have to be better — pretty simple.”

If the playoffs started today, the Wings would be on the outside looking in. They’re currently tied with Philadelphia for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, but the Flyers have a game in hand. Detroit will definitely be scoreboard watching tonight. The Flyers are hosting the Jets.

As for Buffalo, they’re playing for pride at this point. They don’t have a shot at making the playoffs, but they’d like to see some of their young players progress between now and the end of the year. The Sabres got some impressive performances from their young players in Saturday’s win over Winnipeg. Hudson Fasching, Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart (all three players are 20-years-old or younger) scored in the win.

After that game, NHL on NBCSN shifts over to the West Coast to bring you the matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center. You can watch that game online by clicking here.

Neither team is in danger of missing the playoffs, but they are battling for playoff seeding in the Pacific Division. The Kings currently sit atop the division with 95 points. They have a three-point lead over Anaheim (Ducks have a game in hand) and a seven point lead over San Jose.

A win would not only help Los Angeles cement first place in their own division, but it would also bring them two points closer to Dallas and St. Louis for top spot in the Western Conference. The Kings are four points behind both those Central Division teams.

The Sharks look like they’ll finish in third place in the Pacific which means they’ll head to Anaheim for Game 1 of the first round. Playing on the road isn’t ideal, but maybe San Jose prefers that scenario. The Sharks have a 16-18-3 record at home in 2015-16. They’ve been considerably better on the road this season, as they have a 25-10-3 record away from the SAP Center.
