Could this be the end of the baseball run for the son of “The Great One?”

We’ll go ahead and leave that to people with a greater knowledge of lower-level professional baseball prospects, but either way, the Los Angeles Angels released Trevor Gretzky from their organization on Saturday.

That’s the word from’s Alden Gonzalez, in a tweet that’s practically soaked in nepotism:

As a seventh-round pick by the Chicago Cubs, it’s likely that Trevor Gretzky faced a long road to making the MLB.

His numbers aren’t record-breaking (via TSN):

Gretzky, a 23-year-old outfielder, batted .242 with two home runs and 21 RBIs for the Class A Burlington Bees last year.
