We’re used to Pavel Datsyuk making noise with his offensive ability, not his physical play, but on Saturday, he flattened Penguins forward Chris Kunitz in the second period. Datsyuk was given a two-minute penalty for interference on the play while Kunitz went straight to the Penguins locker room.
Obviously, Kunitz didn’t have possession of the puck when Datsyuk hit him, but it looked like he was getting ready to make contact with the Wings forward.
The Penguins haven’t made an announcement on Kunitz’s status, but it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that he ended up in the quiet room.
Pittsburgh currently leads 7-2 in the third period.
Here’s some Twitter reaction to the hit:
So Datsyuk cheap shot on Kunitz who appears concussed. More big injuries to Penguins

Kunitz and Datsyuk collided. Datsyuk caught Kunitz in head. Would appear to be concussion concerns for Kunitz. Shaky walking to locker room.
