The Colorado Avalanche won’t have Nathan MacKinnon in the lineup for their important clash with the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday night.
MacKinnon suffered a knee injury in Friday’s loss to the Calgary Flames. The Avalanche still don’t know exactly how long he’ll be out, but they’ll get a better idea after he meets with team doctors later this week.
“Sometime this week, he’s going to meet with our team doctors,” Roy said, per NHL.com. “From there, we’ll have a better idea.”
The Avalanche are also without Matt Duchene, who also suffered a knee injury.
On a more positive note, Colorado will be getting Gabriel Landeskog back. The captain finished serving a three-game suspension for an illegal crosscheck.
Top prospect Mikko Rantanen will also play his first NHL game since October. The 10th overall pick in 2015 has been very productive during his stint in the AHL. He’s expected to be on the fourth line with Jack Skille and Cody McLeod.
