After that terrific start, it’s mostly been a season of bad news for the Montreal Canadiens, and that continued Tuesday with the announcement that Brendan Gallagher is now out two to three weeks with a lower-body injury.

The injury occurred in Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets.

The Habs, without star goalie Carey Price for a good portion of the season, are nine points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Gallagher has already missed 17 games earlier this season due to a hand injury that required surgery. An undersized forward with a knack for getting under the skin of opposing players, Gallagher has 18 goals and 35 points in 49 games this season, which puts him sixth on that team in total points.
