Video: ‘Hawks prospect Schmaltz scores a beauty for North Dakota

The Chicago Blackhawks have consistently drafted in the back half of each round in the last few years, but that doesn’t stop them from finding skilled prospects.

University of North Dakota forward Nick Schmaltz scored an incredible goal against Western Michigan University on Friday night.

Look at those hands!

Schmaltz used a nice move to get away from one defender, but what a play to tuck the puck in from a tough angle.

The 20-year-old was Chicago’s first round pick, 20th overall, in 2014. It looks like the ‘Hawks may have something here.
