With the trade deadline approaching Feb. 29 teams are already making memorable moves, but which team has done the best job at bettering their Stanley Cup hopes? Anson Carter says hands down it has to be the Blackhawks.

Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf, Washington captain Alex Ovechkin and Preds sophomore Filip Forsberg have been named the NHL’s three stars for the month of February, the league announced on Tuesday.

More:

Getzlaf led all players with 6-14—20 and a +13 rating in 14 games to power the Ducks (34-19-8, 76 points) to a 12-1-1 February, their most wins and points in one calendar month in franchise history.

Ovechkin shared first overall with 12 goals in 13 games (12-4—16) to guide the League-leading Capitals (45-12-4, 94 points) to a 10-4-0 February.

Forsberg also tied for the League lead with 12 goals in 13 games (12-4—16) to lift the Predators (31-21-11, 73 points) to a 7-3-3 February and the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

It’s an impressive turnaround from Getzlaf, who has twice as many goals over his last 14 games (six) than he did through his first 43 (three).

The 30-year-old also now finds himself in a tie for fifth in the NHL in assists. He, along with Dallas’ John Klingberg and Montreal’s P.K. Subban, are all on 42 helpers heading into Tuesday’s action.
