The Toronto Maple Leafs have made plenty of trades in the last week, but it doesn’t look like they’re done selling.
According to TSN’s Gary Lawless, the Maple Leafs and Islanders are working on a trade that would send P.A. Parenteau back to his former team.
The hold up is simple.
The Leafs are reportedly looking for a second-round pick for Parenteau’s services.

It seems like second-round picks are a hot commodity this week.
--The Leafs acquired two second-rounders from San Jose for Roman Polak and Nick Spaling.
--They also nabbed Washington’s second-round pick in the Brooks Laich trade.
--Montreal picked up a second-round pick in 2018 for Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann.
--The Panthers sent a second-round pick to Calgary for Jiri Hudler.
--The Carolina Hurricanes got a pair of second-round picks from the Rangers for Eric Staal.
We must specify that the Islanders don’t have a second-round pick in 2016, but it sounds like the Leafs are willing to settle for a pick in 2017.
Is Parenteau worth that?
His value is whatever the Maple Leafs say it is.
The good thing for the Islanders is that it’s almost impossible to envision Toronto keeping Parenteau beyond Monday’s trade deadline.
If no team is willing to give up a second-rounder for him, their asking price will certainly come down.
Can the Islanders take the risk and wait for the price to decrease? GM Garth Snow has to figure that out.
Parenteau, 32, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
He has 16 goals and 32 points in 60 games.
