Loui Eriksson isn’t the only big or interesting name on “trade watch” right now.
In fact, there are enough that it’s probably easiest to rattle them off in one convenient post:
- Eric Staal is the biggest name - more marketable than Eriksson, you could probably argue - and he may go from the Carolina Hurricanes to one of the NHL’s glitziest teams (which happens to be addicted to these types of moves).
TSN’s Bob McKenzie reports that the Hurricanes and New York Rangers are trying to hash out a trade, and we may very well reach a resolution today:
CAR-NYR trade talks for Eric Staal in a nutshell: CAR wants 1st rd pick; NYR adamant about not giving up 1st rd pick. So...

...can NYR and CAR find another way to get it done that is palatable to both teams?

Update: The Staal-to-Rangers rumors are only intensifying.
All indications point toward Eric Staal going to the New York Rangers. Approvals required, but seems likely.

Further to @TSNBobMcKenzie and @DarrenDreger, Rangers trying very hard to make this Eric Staal thing happen

- Dan Hamhuis might be “softening up” to the idea of being traded, according to the Vancouver Province. Reports link Hamhuis to the Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars.
The Boston Bruins have interest in Dan Hamhuis and at the moment, no reason to believe Hamhuis doesn't view Boston as an option.

- McKenzie reports that the Minnesota Wild were at least gauging interest in blueliner Jonas Brodin, though that might not be imminent.
...MIN isn't shopping him or trying to move him as much as fielding inquiries from teams eager to get 22 year old Top 4 D with $4.16 AAV.

- P.A. Parenteau got hurt this weekend, yet it doesn’t sound like it would keep the Toronto Maple Leafs from moving him:
Parenteau insists it's not long-term injury; "I'll be resting tomorrow, try to slow this thing down a little bit & be ready to go Monday"

- Finally, Radim Vrbata could also be in the mix for a potentially busy Canucks deadline ... or not.
Can confirm Radim Vrbata has given Vancouver his list of eight teams...reality is he may be willing to go to only 2 or 3 of them #canucks

Long story short? Don’t just keep an eye on things tomorrow; there could be big moves today, too. You know, unless such swaps don’t work out ...
