The Philadelphia Flyers announced that captain Claude Giroux won’t play against the Toronto Maple Leafs because of an upper-body injury.
That day-to-day issue probably happened because of a hit by Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban, as the Courier-Post’s Dave Isaac points out.
(You can watch that hit in the video above.)
The Flyers note that Giroux had a 99-game “ironman” streak going into tonight’s contest against the Maple Leafs. Philly’s next game is against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday, so we’ll see if this time off might be enough for the star forward.
An NHL spokesman said the league looked at Subban hit. No fine. No review. #Flyers
