The Edmonton Oilers have gone to the farm, recalling defenseman Nikita Nikitin from the AHL Bakersfield Condors.

This move coincides with fellow Edmonton blue liner Eric Gryba, a potential trade trip in the days leading up to Feb. 29 and a pending unrestricted free agent, being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered against the Ducks on Tuesday.

The injury to Gryba could have an impact on the minds of potential suitors looking to possibly beef up their blue lines at the deadline.

The Oilers, who sit dead last in the Western Conference, will play the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.

In 27 games in Bakersfield, Nikitin has one goal and 14 points.
