The Detroit Red Wings announced some dismal injury news on Monday, although there’s at least a glimmer of hope buried in it.
The undeniably bad: Niklas Kronwall’s knee issues are at least bad enough to land him on LTIR.
The hope: Head coach Jeff Blashill places Kronwall’s target for return as a Feb. 14 game against the Boston Bruins.
The target for Kronner to return is next Sunday vs. Boston. #RedWings will evaluate where he's at as he comes off LTIR. (10 game min)

This is a small comfort, but perhaps Kronwall being on LTIR may provide temporary cap relief for Detroit? His cap hit is a bargain at $4.75 million, yet things are pretty tight for the Red Wings right now.
Also: Riley Sheahan is dealing with an illness that may keep him from practicing tomorrow:
Coach Blashill also said he hopes Sheahan (illness) can return tomorrow for practice. Says he hasn't felt good for 4-or-5 days. #RedWIngs
