‘Hawks captain Jonathan Toews has also decided to stay home.
Toews had just over 10 minutes of ice time in Tuesday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes. He didn’t play in the third period because of an illness.
By skipping the event, the 27-year-old will be forced to miss his team’s first game after the All-Star break (Feb. 2 against Colorado).
“[Toews] was pulled from Tuesday night’s third period because of an illness and remains symptomatic today,” Blackhawks team physician Michael Terry said in a release, per the Sun-Times. “At this time, rest over the break is most important for him to properly recover and be fully healthy heading into the rest of the regular season.”
Predators forward James Neal will take Toews’ spot on the All-Star game roster.
