Slump Buster: Gaborik scores the OT winner, ends 10-game goal drought

The Kings have been waiting for Marian Gaborik to produce.

Gaborik came into tonight’s game against San Jose with no points in his last seven games and no goals in his last 10.

The 33-year-old couldn’t have picked a better time to find the back of the net as he scored the overtime winner (above) to give Los Angeles a 3-2 win over their state rivals.

Speaking of veteran forwards, Vincent Lecavalier has proven to be a solid acquisition.

The 35-year-old had no goals in seven games with the Flyers this year, but he’s managed to score four goals in nine games with his new team.

None of those goals was bigger than the one he buried tonight.

With 12 seconds remaining in the contest and the Kings trailing 2-1, Lecavalier managed to jam a puck behind San Jose’s Martin Jones.

Despite the loss, the Sharks are on an impressive run. They haven’t lost a game in regulation since Jan. 7 (nine games), but there’s no doubt that they let two points slip away.

Instead of cutting Los Angeles’ Pacific Division lead to six points, the Sharks now trail the Kings by nine.
