Corey Crawford has won multiple Stanley Cups, but coming into this season, not many people thought he was one of the elite goalies in the NHL…but that seems to have changed.
Crawford recorded his league-leading seventh shutout of the season in Sunday’s 2-0 win over the St. Louis Blues.
The 31-year-old was especially busy in the first period when he turned aside 12 shots including this one by Scottie Upshall:
Crawford has been terrific throughout the season. He has just one loss in his last 11 games, and he’s allowed two goals or less in nine of those contests.
His teammates definitely appreciate his performances.
Crawford’s put up some great numbers, but should he be considered the favorite to land the Vezina Trophy in 2015-16?
As I mentioned before, Crawford leads the league in shutouts with seven. He has the third best save percentage (.932) and he has the eighth best goals-against-average (2.08). Only Braden Holtby (30) has more wins than Crawford (28)
As of right now, Crawford, Holtby and Cory Schneider have to be considered the favorites to to be nominated for the award and it’s easy to see why:
Schneider might be doing more with less talent around him, but it’s impossible to turn a blind eye to what Holtby and Crawford have done this season.
