From the league:

Today’s game between the Anaheim Ducks and Washington Capitals at Verizon Center, NHL Game No. 704, has been postponed due to the severe snowstorm impacting the Washington, D.C., area.

A makeup date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed.

A decision regarding Sunday’s Pittsburgh Penguins at Washington Capitals game at Verizon Center, NHL Game No. 720, will be announced Saturday morning.

This decision comes after the NHL had already bumped up the start time of the Ducks-Caps game to 5 p.m. ET.

Per CNN, D.C. has issued a blizzard warning, with estimations of winds reaching speeds of 60 mph, and some areas projected to receive “over two feet of fresh snow.”

Washington could see the most. Starting Friday afternoon and into Saturday night, up to 30 inches could fall in the nation’s capital.
