There will be four NHL head coaches on Team USA’s staff at the 2016 World Cup.

USA Hockey announced today that John Tortorella, the head coach of Blue Jackets, will be assisted by Mike Sullivan (Penguins), John Hynes (Devils), and Jack Capuano (Islanders). Also on the staff will be Predators assistant coach Phil Housley and AHL Lehigh Valley head coach Scott Gordon.

“We’re extremely pleased with the coaching staff we’ve assembled,” said Team USA GM Dean Lombardi. “It’s a group that not only brings great experience on multiple levels, but is in lock step with where we’re going and how we’re going to get there.”

Tortorella said of his staff that “all bring something different to the table and that is a real positive as we move toward our ultimate goal of winning the tournament.”

Tortorella first had Sullivan as an assistant when he was head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The two were also together with the Rangers and Canucks.
